Felice Quinto 'King of paparazzi,' eighty

Felice Quinto, eighty, a celeb snapper and the likely model for the personality Paparazzo in Federico Fellini's 1960 film, La Dolce Vita, died of pneumonia Jan sixteen in Rockville, Md, his other half, Geraldine, claimed yesterday. Mr Quinto regularly was called the king of the photographers - a term gleaned from the personality in La Dolce Vita - and he pioneered some of the assertive strategies that celebrity photographers use to this day. He would hide in bushes, wear disguises, and zip around Rome on a bike, taking photographs that appeared in gossip publications around the planet.

He befriended Fellini while living in Rome in the 1950s. According to his other half, Fellini asked Quinto to play a snapper in La Dolce Vita, but he fell as he was making more cash taking footage. He temporarily appeared in the flick as an onlooker.

His assignments included John F Kennedy's funeral and civil rights marches. He was famous for his celebrity photography. He worked at the Studio 54 club in the 1970s and was Elizabeth Taylor's private photographer for a while. When the telephone rang at 6:20 am on Jan eighteen, by accident the nation's holiday lauding the Celebrity Gossip Rev.
