This is roughing up to be the season when the runway comes to you. Lots of designers will present their fall collections in the monthlong runway circuit that started Wed. in N. Y and ends in mid-March in Paris with a stop in Milan along the path. Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Dolce Gabbana are among people who have experimented with bringing their runway shows to the digital space. It was electrifying, and not only thanks to the now-infamous lobster claw shoes on models feet but also because it's a global entertainment event.

Marc Jacobs, Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors and Calvin Klein are also among those that will webcast shows live on their sites.

Will it feel just like the genuine deal? Perhaps , and if it does, it may become the new standard for fashion show webcasts. Why not host concurrent viewing parties at designer boutiques? They could all have their own fashionable 3-D glasses and contend for equivalent to ticket office draw. Till then, the Burberry event is only one of many things to keep a watch on this season. In N. Y, Reed Krakoff, creative director of the Coach accessories brand, will have a go at luxury attire, showing his first collection of clothing on the runway under his very own name. Though Sarah Jessica Parker, newly appointed creative director of the recent label Halston Heritage, isn't concerned with Schwabs collection, one would expect her to make an appearance. Speaking of celebrity designers, Gwen Stefani and Victoria Beckham are returning to Fashion Week to host presentations of their lines, and the Olsen twins are taking the Row to the runway for the 1st time. Then there are the Kardashians -- Kim, Khloe and Kourtney -- who are showing their first runway collection for up to date womens retailer Bebe. ( Come to think about it, that sounds like a pretty great Television show. ). At London Fashion Week, which starts February nineteen, it is not just Burberry that'll be joining the digital runway revolution. ( Is the town sufficiently big for both of them? ). Jeweler Bulgari will tip a pitcher of Prosecco to its new face, Julianne Moore, while Salvatore Ferragamo toasts Old Hollywood at the opening of the exhibit Greta Garbo : The Poser of Style.. ( After an awful debut last season that concerned heart-shaped pasties, the starlet is still, inexplicably, creative counsel for the brand. ). And how will Karl Lagerfeld ever top last seasons Chanel barnburner and live performance by Lily Allen? For true showmanship, McQueen may never be topped. You are at present signed in as ( no-one ).
