She left her local home in the Sichuan Province, China, at seventeen, to become a physical specialist and create the categories of garments she needed to wear. Her creations are occasionally voluminous, occasionally minimal, always creative and cosy. "My goal on 'Project Runway' was really simple," Wu says. "I just needed to test my limit, to see what I'll do under such silly circumstances. Like an experiment I was curious to play on myself.". She is making a robust impression in the 1st episode, trying on her garments herself, rather than employing a dressmaker's dummy. "I only need to make threads for myself in my life so far," she asserts. "It's simpler and less expensive to borrow my body without delay, particularly as I do have the precise measurements of a model anyway.". Really Ping," observes another competitor on the premiere. That could have something to do with her eclectic background. She maintains her Chinese roots as the country is so powerful in producing. She studied design in Milan, Italy, but for 8 months. "I failed to believe you can learn a talent," Wu says. "From college, I only predicted to learn basic rules and standards in the profession. To break the rules, I need to first know the rules.". "But in China, folk only wanted pretty girls to be actresses, with massive eyes, and little nose. The 7th season of "Project Runway" looks to be unpredictable, to say the least. "I hope you would enjoy the show with your acquaintances and family, and bring that love and giggle to your own work and your own life," Wu says.
